Clashes break out in Muzaffarnagar

MUZAFFARANAGR: Clashes on Saturday broke out between the locals and police in Muzaffarnagar after two school children were crushed to death and seven others were injured by a speeding truck today morning. Angry locals blocked the Delhi-Dehradun Highway and pelted stones at the police.

The incident took place today morning near the Chaparral village when five children were going to the school and a speeding truck hit them from behind and 10-year-old Anas and 11-year-old Bushra were killed on the spot, while others were critically injured, police informed.

Bodies of the two deceased have been sent for the post-mortem, while others who were injured were rushed to the nearby hospital for treatment along with injured kids.

The driver who was caught by the angry locals was thrashed ahead of being handed over to the police; police informed, adding that the protesters even blocked the highway while pelting stones at them because of which the traffic was majorly affected.

After reaching the spot, senior police officers dispersed the crowd from there.
