“My little child succumbed to the injuries in her mother’s lap in the car and it is indeed sad that her mother as well is struggling for survival and she does not know that Sonam is no more,” said Hanuman Khandelwal, victim’s father as he lay injured at SMS Hospital.

Sonam was killed, while her father, mother Shikha, brother Somil and aunt Seema suffered serious injuries after their car collided with Mercedes Hema Malini was travelling in on Thursday evening.

As claimed by Khandelwal, his family members were left to bleed on the road for around 20-25 minutes in the smashed car as a doctor took the actress and others in his car to the Fortis Hospital in Jaipur.

“We all were attended by Dausa Police and the hospital we were taken to was in a poor condition to control our injuries,” he said, adding that even though his wife had gained consciousness, she was still not informed of our daughter’s death.

According to Sonam’s uncle, “Hema Malini was taken to a hospital in Dausa within no time and was later shifted to Fortis Hospital and Sonam was lying at the spot for more than 20 minutes and nobody really bothered to even ask about her.”

“Had she (Sonam) been taken to the hospital along with Hema Malini, she would have been saved,” he said.

The relatives of the family have reportedly said that since they could afford the treatment of their family, they are not looking for any compensation from the government but are sad about the fact that the no media has approached them as everyone was busy focusing on the actor and politician.

An FIR has been filed against the driver of Hema Malini, Ramesh Chand Thakur, who was driving her car when the accident occurred in Dausa, 60 km from Rajasthan’s capital Jaipur. He was arrested post the incident but was later granted bail.

66-year-old ‘Dream Girl’ underwent surgery for her wounds at Fortis Hospital and has been discharged from the hospital now. She was also treated for a minor fracture on her nose apart from having some stitches under her eyes.
