Policeman injured in militant attack in Shopian, Jammu and Kashmir

SRINAGAR: A policeman posted at district court complex in Shopian district of South Kashmir was injured after unidentified militants on Thursday shot at him, police informed.

According to a police official, the ultras shot at Constable Mohammad Ashraf Akhoon at the court complex at around 11.00 AM.

After sustaining injuries in his abdomen, Akhoon was rushed to a nearby hospital and has now been referred to hospital in Srinagar for specialized treatment as his condition was reported to be ‘serious’.

This was the second militancy-related incident that has shocked Shopian yet another time in past 24 hours.

Militants opened fire on an Army party at Imam Sahib in Shopian last evening, resulting in the death of a jawan.
