NEW DELHI: In what is likely to increase trouble for the Delhi government who is already in the dock for fake degree row, a lawmaker of Arvind Kejriwal’s ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Manoj Kumar has been arrested in connection with a forgery case and has been accused of buying land on forged documents.
“This is an old issue and is associated to some land fraud,” said Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi.
An AAP’s lawmaker from Kondli, Kumar already has seven cases against him including those of cheating and assault. He has been taken to the New Ashok Nagar police station for questioning.
The police had dramatically arrested former Delhi Law Minister Jitender Singh Tomar of the Aam Aadmi Party from his constituency office for reportedly having fake degrees last month.
Tomar’s arrest had worsened the existing tense political situation in the capital amid a big fight between the AAP government and the Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung.
