NEW DELHI: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Delhi Police posted in West Delhi’s Punjabi Bagh Police Station has been sent to 14-days custody for reportedly raping a 23-year-old woman at gunpoint.
The accused policeman allegedly pulled out his gun and raped the woman on Thursday and was under the influence of alcohol, reports said.
It further added that the incident was captured in CCTV cameras which clearly show that the inspector is pointing gun towards the victim and asked her to remove her clothes.
A case has been registered against the accused.
In her statement, the woman has claimed that the officer offered her a lift but later asked her to drop him to his house nearby, as he was under the influence was not in a condition to travel on his own.
After he took me to his house, he suddenly grabbed me and locked the door and raped by pointing his service revolver, she added.
While the police is also trying to verify the CCTV footage, Aam Aadmi Party led Delhi government has demanded the resignation of Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi.
