BJP MLA offered money to journalist?

RAJASTHAN: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA has stirred a big controversy by reportedly claiming at a public function that she had offered ‘envelopes’ allegedly filled with cash to local journalists at the time of the elections which were accepted by all but three of them returned it.

A video of the public function reportedly showing BJP MLA, Shimla Bawri from Anupgarh in Sri Ganganagar district making controversial statement on July 18 has gone viral on different social media platforms.

However, the MLA has claimed that she did not make any such claims and the video was altered.

The video shows MLA claiming that she at the time of the Assembly Election campaign had offered envelopes containing cash to the local journalists in Ravla, Ghadsana and Anupgarh, but three scribes of Anupgarh returned the envelops saying they would take it only if she got elected as the MLA.

She making such claims suggested that journalists should understand the sensitivity and value of their occupation.

The MLA was speaking at her felicitation programme held in Anupgarh on July 18.

Opposing the claims from the BJP MLA, the local journalists have proposed a note addressed to the Chief Minister and the Election Commission, to the district collector and sought action against the MLA.
