The Independence Day celebrations at Government College in Mohali’s Phase VI were marred by the alleged thrashing of some National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets by their instructor with a belt immediately after Independence Day celebrations got over on Tuesday, The Tribune reported.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, a blue turbaned youth is seen whipping the NCC cadets with a belt.
The accused has been identified as Gurwinder Singh and is believed to be a former student of the college.
Although the school authorities have tried to hush up the matter, Mohali Deputy Commissioner has taken a serious note of the incident and has ordered an inquiry.

“The so-called victims and the accused were having fun. We have recorded the statements of all of them, including Gurwinder Singh, in which they stated that no thrashing took place,” the Principal said.
It is believed that Gurwinder was preparing the cadets for the Independence Day celebrations when the incident happened.
He thrashed the cadets for doing some mischief in the NCC uniform while they were getting training.
