NEW DELHI: In a fresh and shocking twist to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA attack controversy, a CCTV footage recovered from the sweet shop in Kashmere Gate shows the AAP MLA Alka Lamba vandalizing the shop along with her supporters.
The video shows the AAP MLA heading straight to the shop counter and throwing items placed around. This was followed by her supporters who started vandalizing the shop.
In the mean while, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Satish Upadhyay reacting to the incident has expressed that the ruling AAP’s leaders have now started indulging in hooliganism.
“Police should take action against culprits. She provoked her supporters and has taken law in her hand,” Upadhyay said.
AAP legislator Alka Lamba was attacked on Sunday by some unidentified miscreants as they started pelting stones at her during her anti-drug driver in the national capital.
One person has been detained in the case; police informed adding that the search to find others is still on. The MLA sustained minor injuries, they added.
Chandni Chowk MLA, Alka Lamba started her anti-drug drive at 5PM from Yamuna Bazar to mark the Quit India Movement Day. She was attacked at Kashmere Gate.
Speaking on the CCTV footage, the MLA charged of vandalizing the shop claimed that she has also seen the CCTV footage. “The police were standing there but did not act,” Alka Lamba said today, adding that the footage was from after she was attacked. She has accused that some shops in the area are illegal and help drug peddlers operate freely there.
On the other hand, Lamba’s colleague Ashutosh said that the suspect was caught from a shop which was owned by BJP MLA Om Prakash Sharma. "She was calling the police who were standing there and didn't help. So the reaction was natural," he said while commenting on the CCTV footage.
