Technology giant Google which has already acclaimed the position of being the best search engine in the world, is now looking to be pioneer in the smartphone industry with its premium range of smartphones. Google, which last year brought Google Pixel, aimed to give a tough competition to Apple’s iPhone but somehow couldn’t achieve its objective, is once again ready to take the challenge ahead.
The company is all set to unveil it to the world its new flagships Google Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, to tease its competitors and take the smartphone race to the next level. Google has been teasing about its event via different kinds of hoardings across the world including New Delhi by saying, ‘Ask more of your phone’ on October 4. With the mentioning of phone in the hoardings, it appears that the technology giant is all ready to set new standards in smartphone industry by launching Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. The launch event is expected to start around 9:30PM IST tonight.

Expected specifications of the new Pixel 2 and Pixel XL
- Going by the leaks, the phone may come with a bezel-less screen on the sides but may have a little room on the top and bottom.
- Pixel 2 may come with 5.5 inch display while Pixel XL might sport a 6 inch screen.
- Dual front-facing speakers.
- IP-67 water-resistance.
- Might lack a headphone jack, just like Apple ditched in iPhone.
- Snapdragon 835 chipset.
- 4GB of RAM.
- 64GB or 128GB of storage.

Talking the design language of the new phones, it is expected that Google might go ahead with its double coloured design on the rear, which was applauded by many in the smartphone industry when Pixel debut in 2016 to be an all out Google smartphone. Apart from Google Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, the company might also launch a miniature Google Home, new Chromebook and new Daydream headset.
The new range of Google Pixel may start from $849 which is a little less than the price of iPhone X whose price at the time of launch was $999. However, whether Google Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL will directly be competing with iPhone X or will be a competitor to iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus will be waiting game here.
