Speak Out India: JNU to fly flag for unity first?

Flying the national flag prominently will now be the new norm for all central universities across India. The decision was taken at a meeting between the Union Human Resources Development Minister Smriti Irani and vice-chancellors of 46 central universities today.
The government claims it is not a ‘top-down’ order but one that the vice-chancellors of the central universities proposed themselves. All central universities will now have to install a 207 ft high, 125 kg national flag on the orders of HRD ministry. All these universities will install the national flag as per the HRD ministry directive.
