Dharamshala now loses IPL matches

Dharamshala: Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) will have to face more loss as it will miss out on hosting matches for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL). This happened immediately after the high-profile India-Pakistan World T20 match was shifted from Dharamsala to Kolkata on Wednesday.
HPCA stadium was scheduled to organise the much-awaited India-Pakistan match in the upcoming World T20, but due to various protests and threats from different organisations, the BCCI shifted the match to Kolkata keeping in mind the security concerns of the players and the officials.

A request was made to the Indian cricket board (BCCI) by Kings XI Punjab to shift its share of matches from the HPCA stadium to the VCA stadium in Nagpur, to which the BCCI readily agreed.
The latest IPL schedule doesn't mention Dharamsala as a venue. Earlier, Kings XI Punjab made Dharamshala as one of its home venues.
HPCA spokesperson Sanjay Sharma blamed the Congress-led state government for Dharamsala not getting its due share in the upcoming IPL. "Franchisees do not want to take the risk of hosting matches here (in Dharamsala) due to the politics played by Congress-led state government. They are trying to harm the HPCA's image directly or indirectly because the association president is Anurag Thakur who belongs to the Bharatiya Janata Party," he said.
