Kolkata: After Pakistani Captain Shahid Afridi was barred from attending the press conference, the press conference was attended by the coach Waqar Younis.
In the conference Waquar Younis has come to his captain’s defence by saying that didnot find anything offensive about Afridi’s comment of receiving more love in India. In the press conference, Younis said that the Bangladesh cricket team is playing good cricket so they have to be really strong to defend them. He added that Afridi is unwell so he is not practicing and he hopes that Afridi will be fit for tomorrow’s match.
Citing that Afridi’s comment was pro-India in nature, the Pakistan High Court slammed the cricketer for praising a nation which has always maintained a contentious relation with Pakistan. Afridi’s comment, which was purportedly aimed at reducing the hostility between the two neighboring countries, was also slammed by Pakistan team’s legendary cricketer Javed Miandad.
“Shame on Shahid Afridi,” Miandad was quoted as saying. Whether this outlashes by the Pakistan government will be taken sternly or not is entirely upto the Pakistan Cricket Board. After the cancellation of the much-hyped Ind-Pak match in Dharamsala, the player stated that sports should be kept free of politics.
