As FC Barcelona look to book their semi-final berth in the UEFA Champions League 2016, manager Luis Enrique called up on Tuesday all available footballers for Wednesday’s second leg of the quarter-finals against Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon.
Barcelona will look to build on the 2-1 lead over Atletico Madrid from the first leg at Camp Nou. The Catalans are the defending champions and will look to rewrite the history books by becoming the first team to successfully defend a Champions League title when they face-off against a competitive Atletico on Wednesday night at the Vicente Calderon Stadium.
The squad trained on Tuesday morning. Five injured players, Rafinha, Vermaelen, Sandro, Aleix Vidal and Jeremy Mathieu were not part of training.
Luis Enrique’s Barcelona have won all seven of their games against Atletico, over this season and the last one. But taking Diego Simeone and his team lightly would be a huge mistake that Barcelona would not want to take, given the Gabi-led team knows how to make things difficult.
