With 111 runs to outrun, it was never a pressure for the Delhi Daredevils to beat the flustered Kings XI Punjab. The latter's performance was so overwhelmingly small that cricket pundits could not help but finally agree with each other: yes, Delhi is going to win. And there was no doubt about it. Delhi was the better team in today's match, and their composure and coordination in the field stands as a testimony to this fact. A successful day for the Daredevils and a more pleasant day for all its fans.
Delhi Daredevils have won the match.
That was definitely a tough play for the Kings XI Punjab. Right from the first ball itself and to the last one, it was apparent that the Kings were having a tough ordeal sending the ball over the boundary. And by deploying all the 9 players to the field, there is a serious assumption that the Delhi Daredevils will stomp upon the Kings Eleven Punjab without even breaking a sweat. That is the situation unless the Kings Eleven are able to pull out a devastating bowling attack just like the match between India and New Zealand.
Ten overs have already passed now. Delhi Daredevils are 4 out for a tally of 54 at the moment.
Daredevils have won the toss and elected to bowl first.
With the fiercesome David Miller and aggressive Zaheer Khan looking to register their first win, there is little doubt that this particular IPL match will be a contentious one. Can veteran cricketer Zaheer Khan pull a solid one for his team, or is it all a winning gamble for David Miller?
Daredevils and KXIP finished seventh and eighth respectively in IPL 2015.
In their opening match, Delhi surrendered to Kolkata Knight Riders while Kings XI suffered against debutants Gujarat Lions.
Against Kolkata, Delhi were dismissed for 98 in 17.4 overs with only four of their batsmen reaching double figures and skipper Zaheer had to ensure that they come up with a better performance.
Australian batsman Shaun Marsh has recovered from food poisoning and is all set to play for Kings XI Punjab in their upcoming match.
The 32-year-old, who was present during the team's training session, missed the side's opening game against Gujarat Lions after being hospitalised with the illness.
Punjab had put up a decent score of 161-6 against Gujarat in their opening match with useful contributions from their opening batsmen Murali Vijay and Manan Vohra.
However, the team failed to defend the total after their bowlers were taken to the cleaners by Aaron Finch and Dinesh Karthik.
Finch smashed a brilliant knock of 74 from mere 47 balls, including 17 runs off the 11 balls he faced from Johnson as the Lions claimed a five-wicket win over Kings XI Punjab in Mohali.
