New Delhi: In a goodwill gesture, the Sports Ministry on Thursday, announced Rs 30 lacs as a reward for ace Indian gymnast Dipa Karmakar on her return from Rio for making the nation proud.
Karmakar, on Sunday, became the first Indian female gymnast to qualify for the Olympics in the history of the Games.
Dipa scored 14.833 as her best effort to finish first in the women’s vaults finals at the Rio Olympic Arena. She defeated 2008 Olympic silver medallist Oksana Chusovitina of Uzbekistan.
