Pune: Dhoni’s brigade came with a steep trajectory to measure in 20 overs, and somewhere, Dhoni’s supporters believed that the number wasn’t too high for the Supergiants to conquer. But what happened at the pitch was completely unexpected: Dhoni came into the match way early than was expected to come, mainly because Plessis left the pitch early and Kevin Pietersen suffered a painful injury and walked off.

However, Supergiants did not give up the game easily. Perera, the hero of the match even though Supergiants lost, clocked in a massive two sixes and three fours in the last overs of the match. But Watson crushed them to pulp, and after that, it was all a tragedy for the Dhoni brigade.

Royal Challengers sets a target of 185 for Pune Supergiants. Challengers were witnessing a similar T20 trend of losing players in early overs when Lokesh Rahul left the podium with a scanty run in his bag. But Ab de Villiers, the man whose shoulder can carry the burden of more than three players, stayed in tandem with captain Virat Kohli. And then he turned it around; the contest became about the execution of fire and ice performance. Ab de Villiers scored a brilliant 83 followed closely by Virat Kohli who scored 80. Can Pune Supergiants evoke the same spirit? Let’s see.

Rising Pune Supergiants have won the toss and opted to bowl first. (Seeing recent outcomes of different IPL matches, most of the teams that have won the toss have also gone on to win the match)

Cricket extravaganza Indian Premier League (2016) is in its most colorful avatar to entertain fans across the world. And with this Friday-fight taking place between Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Virat Kohli, the two big names in the Indian cricket team is set to lock horns for the first time in this tournament.

Rising Pune Supergiants and Royal Challengers Bangalore are both on equal grounds as far as teams standing are concerned. Dhoni’s league is standing at 6th position on the table while Kohli’s brigade is on 7th. Both teams have won only 1 match so far out of three; however, Supergiants are slightly ahead in-terms of Net run rate (NRR).

Match winners Dhoni and Kohli will be aiming to lift their team further up in the points table, but Bangalore would be feeling a lack of confidence because of the absence of Chris Gayle.

Let’s take a look on the current statistics of both the teams:

Apart from Dhoni, the scrutiny will be on Supergiants’ Francois du Plessis  who has so far played 42 matches and scored 1251 with an average of 32.08, including 8 half centuries. But challenging him would be Shane Watson of Bangalore, who has scored 2424 runs in 78 matches with 14 half centuries and 65 wickets.

Also, it is important not to overlook skipper Kohli’s performance, who has so far played 117 games scoring 3147 runs with an average of 32.11, including 19 50’s. The ‘new wall’ will look up for 20th fifty in this match too.

So, which team spectators will have more time to tease and poke fun in this super Friday cricket evening, let’s wait and watch.
