London: Anthony Martial started a brilliant game play, exchanging passes with Jesse Lingard and Ander Herrera, before darting past the Everton defence to curl one around Everton goal keeper Joel Robles in the 93rd minute and put Manchester United in the finals of the FA Cup, igniting mad celebrations at the Wembley Stadium on Sunday.
Martial was the one who started the proceedings setting one up for Marouane Fellaini in the 34th minute to put United 1-0 up and build pressure on Everton.
Everton came back in the second half, determined to cut short the United lead. The first massive chance came in the 57th minute when Ross Barkley was challenged inside the box by Fosu-Mensah. Romelu Lukaku stepped up for the Toffees to take the responsibility of levelling scores with the Red Devils.
David de Gea, however, had other plans. Plans to spoil Everton’s night, as he guessed correctly to spring to his right and stop a powerful strike from Lukaku, showing the world once again why he is considered to be probably the best goalkeeper in the world.
It was Chris Smalling’s own goal in the 75th minute that put Everton level with Louis van Gaal’s men before Everton missed on a couple of chances to put United behind.
With three minutes added as extra time, it seemed like the Wembley was headed for an extra half hour and penalties, maybe, before Martial shattered Everton’s hopes and launched himself into the crowd.
United will face either Crystal Palace or Watford in the FA Cu Final on May 21.
