Rajkot: Gujarat Lions has won the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. It was apparent from the beginning of the match itself; a brilliant effort in the field, an early send off of de Villiers, and the most crucial one – stopping the Challengers from registering more than 200. Even when they lost their wickets early in the match, they deployed the same kind of composure and skill that had won the initial games for them.
With his first 100 this IPL season, Virat Kohli is the Man of the Match.
It was unfortunate for Kohli that, despite his first century, his team could not bring the score to a competitive level in the game. Raina, McCullum, Karthik, all of whom brought important changes to the game; even Dwayne Bravo, who stylishly finished the game with a boundary, are all to credit for today’s win for the top-spot holder Gujarat Lions.
Suresh Raina and Dinesh Karthik doing the best they can to increase theire chances in the game – they’re doing a great job so far.
Dwayne Smith has been taken out by Royal Challengers, in his place is Captain Suresh Raina. But Brendon McCullum seems unfazed, his lethality is proving too much for the RCB fielders and bowlers to handle.
Dwayne Smith and Brendon McCullum’s comination is proving to be lethal for Royal Challengers. Boundaries are being showered upon them.
Gujarat Lions register on the scoreboard with the combination of Dwayne Smith and Brendon McCullum.
Royal Challengers have registered a score of 180. Virat Kohli stacked up a perfect 100 and made his first century in this season of the Indian Premier League. Though Supergiants started off on a good note, they were not able to break the main players of the RCB at crucial points. But 180 isn’t too strong a target for the Supergiants to keep up, and with players like Raina, Finch, and McCullum, Supergiants have a real chance at the game if they persist and remain calm during crucial points of the match.
With Kohli keeping true to his reputation and the IPL rookie Lokesh Rahul asssisting the score, can the Challengers make more than 180?
That’s it for the partnership of V Kohli and ABD villiers. The latter has been sent off by Tambe for 20 runs.
Gujarat Lions were off to a good start as Dhawan Kulkarni sent off Shane Watson for a megre six runs in the second over. Watson was caught by Jadeja.
Earlier, Royal Challengers Bangalore won the toss and elected to bat against the Gujarat Lions at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium on Sunday.
RCB has made one change in the team. KL Rahul will play instead of Mandeep Singh, who injured himself during practice.
