Pune: Kolkata Knight Riders has won the match. Just as predicted, Kolkata Knight Riders has enough fire in their loins to overpower stumbling Rising Pune Supergiants. The strain was apparent on Dhoni's sweat-ridden face as Kolkata swiftly broke boundaries after boundaries to reach the average score of 160. Despite Uthappa and Gambhir leaving the podium early, the rest of the Kolkata batsmen proved that the spirit of the match was more alive in all than in the key players. With this win, Kolkata Knight Riders has remained on the highest level of the ladder if not the top. Impressive performance by Gambhir's brigade

No excuses for Dhoni, as he himself seem to be saying it lately. They need to introduce some drastic changes in the team if they want to register a win in their next match.  If they consistently suffer a loss this entire season, Dhoni might lose his alibi as the most successful IPL captain.

Kolkata Knight Riders is doing the best right now to keep the weight of the match on their side. Pathan and Yadav both looks like they've settled with the batting superbly.

Kolkata Knight Riders have suffered an early upset. They have lost Robin Uthappa early for a duck.

Pune Supergiants registers a score of 160/5. There is a big problem which has lodged itself in Dhoni's Supergiants — a lackdaisical battling force. Pune's last defeat was riddled with difficulties mainly for the batsmen who struggled at the helm to make signficant runs for their team. And today, the situation wasn't any different. A score of 150-180 should be considered average while a score more than 180 entails for more chances to win in the match.

So in the second half, will the Kolkata Knight Riders fight out the score in 20 overs or will they bag the victory without even completing 20 overs?

Time again for MS Dhoni to prove himself the messaih for the team. Supergiants need to desperately increase their numbers right now; they could be looking at a score less than 130 if they don't make any boundaries.

Kolkata Knight Riders wins the toss and elects to bowl first.

With only one big win so far in the tournament against the defending champions Mumbai Indians, Skipper Dhoni’s team is struggling for a win as they have lost all 3 matches of the total 4 matches. We can maybe assume that Dhoni, known widely as ‘captain cool’, maybe losing his cool which is evident from the way the kind of combinations the Supergiants have been suffering lately.

While the Kolkata Knight Riders on the other side are leading the scorecard as they have suffered only one loss and won all of their other matches. Riders will definitely try to continue their winning streak, but would it be easy for Gambhir to face Dhoni, one of the most successful captains in every IPL season so far?

Rising Pune Supergiants Pietersen's injury could give MS Dhoni a chance to try Mitchell Marsh or Albie Morkel. The skipper could also go for Irfan Pathan or RP Singh. However, Manish Pandey has been ruled out for a few matches with chicken pox.

In his last match, Kohli thrashed Dhoni; so can Gambhir do it too? Let’s see what develops in the evening.

Rising Pune Supergiants: 1 Faf du Plessis, 2 Ajinkya Rahane, 3 Steven Smith, 4 MS Dhoni (cast & wk), 5 Mitchell Marsh, 6 Thisara Perera, 7 Rajat Bhatia, 8 R Ashwin, 9 M Ashwin/Irfan Pathan, 10 Ankit Sharma, 11 Ishant Sharma/RP Singh

Kolkata Knight Riders: 1 Gautam Gambhir (capt), 2 Robin Uthappa, 3 Sheldon Jackson, 4 Suryakumar Yadav, 5 Yusuf Pathan, 6 Andre Russell, 7 Shakib Al Hasan, 8 Piyush Chawla, 9 Sunil Narine, 10 Umesh Yadav, 11 Morne Morkel

Pitch and conditions

The ball could hold up in the surface, and could benefit the slow bowlers.
