Melbourne: Australia's emerging fast bowler Scott Boland has replaced fellow injured all-rounder John Hastings in the one-day squad for the upcoming West Indies tri-series, which also features South Africa.

Hastings was ruled out of the series with an ankle injury sustained in the Indian Premier League earlier this month.

Reflecting on the injury, Cricket Australia's sports medicine manager Alex Kountouris said that Hastings underwent arthroscopic surgery and that he now requires a period of rest to resolve the bone stress and recover from surgery before he will resume bowling, reported.

Boland, who made his debut last summer against India in Perth, has played six one-day internationals till now.

Hastings had dislocated his left shoulder three times prior to Christmas, all in a freak training mishaps, but opted not to undergo surgery to continue playing and push on for the World Twenty20 and IPL.

He flew home from the IPL earlier this month after sustaining the injury to his left ankle while warming up for a match for Kolkata Knight Riders.
