New Delhi: Manchester United have officially announced the signing of Villarreal defender Eric Bailly.  The centre back joins Manchester United on a 4-year deal, subject to a work permit. Eric has become the first signing for the new boss of Old Trafford, Jose Mourinho.

The 22-year-old has been a sensation in the La Liga 2015-16 and has impressed everyone with his defensive skills and his attacking style of play. A fierce competitor and an exemplary professional all Bailly lacks is experience, and so might need some time to adapt in the Premier League.

The Ivory Coast player said, "It is a dream come true to be joining Manchester United. To play football at the highest level is all I have ever wanted to do. I want to progress to be the best that I can be and I believe working with Jose Mourinho will help me develop in the right way and at the right club.”

“I am looking forward to meeting my new team mates and to starting this new chapter of my life,” said the new Manchester United joinee.

The Manchester United coach was also delighted about the signing of the talented player, as Bailly is a young and fast defender and would provide the strength United lacked last season in their defence.

United’s manager Jose Mourinho said, "Eric is a young central defender with great natural talent. He has progressed well to date and has the potential to become one of the best around.”

"We look forward to working with him to help nurture that raw talent and fulfil his potential. Eric is at the right club to continue his development,” Mourinho added.
