New Delhi: Ace Indian shuttler and world number eight Saina Nehwal, on Saturday, outclassed Wing Yihan in straight sets 21-8, 21-12 in the semi-finals on Saturday to reach the Australian Open Super Series 2016 finals.
The London Olympic medallist was up against her greatest nemesis in Wang Yihan of China who leads 11-4 head-to-head. However, unlike her hard-fought battle in the quarters with Ratchanok Intanon which lasted for 56 minutes, she made quick work of fourth seed in the semis.
Saina will face China's Sun Yu in the final match.
The other Indian in the event Kidambi Srikanth, lost in the semi-final to 12th ranked Hans-Kristian Vittinghus of Denmark 22-20, 21-13.
Srikanth, who had a 2-1 head-to-head advantage against Vittinghus going into the semis, put up a great fight, but 20-20 in the first set, it was anybody's game. Vittinghus, however, won the crucial point and sealed the set.
The Indian shuttler kept the pressure in the second game but lost momentum at crucial times to fall behind. In the end, the pressure was too much to handle and Srikanth lost the game to bow out of the tournament.
