MS Dhoni equals Allan Border’s record

New Delhi: Indian skipper MS Dhoni registered his first ever clean sweep on a foreign soil after Team India whitewashed the Zimbabwe team by 3-0 in three-match One-Day International (ODI) series. Dhoni also equalled Australia's legendary skipper Allan Border's record for match wins as captain.

Allan Border captained Australia in almost 178 ODI matches from 1985 to 1994 and registered wins in 107 matches. Dhoni became the second most successful ODI captain, falling in list just after the Australia's two-time World Cup winning skipper Ricky Ponting.

Dhoni has led India in 195 ODI matches and registered wins in 107 of them; however, India lost 72 matches under his captaincy in the period of 2007-2016.  Dhoni also left Sri Lankan captain Arjuna Ranatunga behind in the previous game after leading India in 194 ODI matches.

Ranatunga had led the Sri-Lankan team in 193 matches. Ricky Ponting, who tops the table, enjoys the incredible winning percentage of 76.14. He captained Australia on 230 occasions and won 165 matches, losing just 51 ODI games.

Dhoni is no doubt India's most successful captain in all three formats, under his leadership India won the maiden ICC T20 2007, ICC WC 2011. India also managed to maintain 1st rank in Test format for 18 months under his captaincy.
