New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has sought help from Indian Test skipper Virat Kohli to choose the Indian cricket team coach where there is a logjam over the names of Anil Kumble and Ravi Shastri. The committee comprising VVS Laxman, Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar interviewed five candidates in Kolkata and have to now pick up a candidate.
Anil Kumble, Ravi Shastri, Pravin Amre, Lalchand Rajput and Tom Moody were the five candidates that were interviewed by the panel.
Now, the ball is in Test captain Virat Kohli’s court. However, sources have revealed that Virat Kohli has a strong inclination towards Ravi Shastri.
Though the panel – comprising VVS Laxman, Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar – has played with Anil Kumble, on the other hand Ravi Shastri’s tenure as a director of Team India has been very positive which might work in his favour. The key role of the Test team captain cannot be denied in the decision making process.
