New Delhi: Narsingh Pancham Yadav, a 74kg freestyle wrestling specialist representing India at the Rio Olympics, has found himself on a tight rope after he allegedly failed a doping test.
The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) has found two samples which were taken from Yadav that has tested positive for dope. The Tribune reported that there was no official confirmation about the news.
It is being reported that Yadav had appeared before the Nada panel on Friday, pleading his innocence and also claiming that he was being targeted by rivals so that they could build an impasse on his Olympics dream. Narsingh said that he was innocent and that he had the support of Indian Olympic Association (IOA). "I have never taken any banned substance. I know Indian Olympic Association will support me," said Narsingh, who tested positive for banned substance.
NADA sent its reports to the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) after a surprise test on the wrestler revealed positive signs of doping. A second test was also performed which also turned positive.
If the doping allegations are confirmed as true, Narsingh Yadav will be disqualified from participating in the Rio Olympics.
