New Delhi: Wrestler Narsingh Yadav’s Olympic hopes faded into oblivion after the 74-kg grappler failed his second dope test as well.
“It’s the same substance that was found in the first test. It was unlikely that it would go out of the system,” sources close to the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) said. Yadav had taken the dope test on July 5.
It is important to note that Narsingh was earlier tested positive for a banned steroid methandienone. The wrestler was handed a provisional suspension following the incident which put a question mark over his chances of participation in Rio Olympics.
Yadav, however, has demanded a CBI inquiry hinting at foul play and has said that his food supplements were tampered with at a camp in Sonepat, Haryana.
Meanwhile, Praveen Rana has been announced as replacement for Narsingh Yadav in 74-kg weight category for the upcoming Olympic Games
