New Delhi: Indian sprinter Dutee Chand, known as “Fastest Indian Woman”, suffered a disappointing day at the Rio Olympics on Saturday when she came in the seventh place to post a timing of 11.69.

Chand – representing not only India but the also the plight of women in a country where professional sports are rarely preferred as a career – failed to qualify for the semi-finals.

In the 100m race which would prove that Dutee Chand was just as fast as the legendary PT Usha, Chand suffered with the lack of form; and despite her striving for the final platform, she reached the 7th place which meant that her dream to qualify for the semi-finals was over.

India is yet to secure a medal at the Rio Olympics 2016.
