New Delhi: United States swimming sensation and champion of the Olympic waters Michael Phelps secured his 23rd gold medal on Sunday at the Rio Olympics 2016 being held in Rio de Janeiro.
Participating in the Men's 4x100m medley relay, the last swimming event at the Rio Olympics, Michael and his teammates clocked in 3.27.95 to win the gold medal for USA, who became the first nation to win 1000 gold medals on Sunday.
However, Michael Phelps has been cut short of a straight gold rush after Singapore Olympian Joseph Schooling beat him in the Men's 100m butterfly. 21-year-old Joseph was a long-standing fan of Michael Phelps with the picture of Schooling, a small kid then, taken with Michael Phelps which made the rounds of the internet. Katie Ledecky who also broke women's world record in swimming has pictures with Phelps where she is seen taking an autograph from Phelps.
Phelps, through his unending passion for the sports and his relentless spirit despite going through depression, has clinched 5 gold medals and a silver medal at the Rio Olympics. With 23 gold medals to his name, Michael Phelps is the most decorated Olympian of all time. Michael Phelps' wife Nicole Johnson was also by the Olympian's side at every game along with Michael's son Boomer.
