New Delhi: After a disastrous last season at the Premier League, Chelsea looked in its prime condition as they beat West Ham United 2-1 on Monday to establish the fact that the Men in Blue had returned, with more lethality.
It was Spanish striker Diego Costa's swift shot at the net from 20 yards which assured Chelsea the win over West Ham. And looking at the way Antonio Conte celebrated the goal, it was apparent that Chelsea had registered a huge win, despite the league being in the initial stages. More than Costa, Conte was more excited about the goal as he hugged and cheered with the Chelsea fans at the Stamford Bridge.
After Michail Antonio fouled Cesar Azpilicueta, Chelsea got its first touch inside the net with Eden Hazard taking the penalty.
However, West Ham's James Collins settled the score level when confusion ripped through Chelsea defenders.
After Chelsea's horrific performance in the Premier League last season for which confrontational coach Jose Mourinho was sacked, Conte is striving to bring passion into the game and revive the plunging reputation of the Men in Blue.
