New Delhi: The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has appealed to Court of Arbitration (CAS) against National Anti-doping Agency’s (NADA) clean chit to Indian wrestler Narsingh Yadav.
“Yes, WADA has appealed the verdict on Narsingh to CAS, which will hear both parties on Thursday August 18,” Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, Indian wrestling's governing body president, said.
As per sources the Indian wrestler Narsingh Yadav appeared in person during the proceedings that took place in the regional office at Rio.
Narsingh is scheduled to open his Rio campaign on Friday, August 19, a day after the hearing is scheduled to take place.
Earlier Narsingh Yadav had been exonerated of all the doping charges by NADA. The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) had also supported the wrestler's advent into Rio Olympics and so did the UWW.
The ball is now in WADA's court. It's a nervous wait and watch for the Indian grappler till 18 Aug.
