New Delhi: Air India on Friday offered two return business class tickets to Sakshi Malik who won bronze medal in women’s wrestling at the Rio Olympics 2016.

Ashwani Lohani, the current Chairman and Managing Director of Air India wrote a letter to Sakshi, congratulating her for her outstanding victory at Olympic Games in Rio. He also offered two return business class tickets between any two destinations on the entire Air India network.

The letter sent to Sakshi read “As a mark of our recognition and gratitude for your outstanding achievement in the Rio Olympics, Air India is indeed proud to offer you two (for you and your companion) return business class tickets between any two destinations on the entire Air India network valid for a period of one year”.

Sakshi Malik defeated Kyrgyzstan’s Aisuluu Tynybekova to win a bronze in the Women’s Freestyle 58kg category getting India its first medal at the Rio Olympics 2016.

In an interview, the 23-year-old wrestler had said that she wanted to become a sportsperson to travel in an aeroplane.

“I never knew what Olympics was, I wanted to become a sportsperson to travel in an aeroplane. If you can represent India, you can board a plane, and fly,” she told PTI.

As a mark of our recognition and gratitude for your outstanding achievement in the Rio Olympics, Air India is indeed proud to offer you two (for you and your companion) return business class tickets between any two destinations on the entire Air India network valid for a period of one year. To redeem your tickets, you may contact the Reservation Manager of Air India at Safdarjung Airport on any working day with a copy of this letter.
