New Delhi: Indian badminton player PV Sindhu became the first Indian woman to clinch a silver medal in the Olympics games.
During her preliminary rounds in Rio, she defeated Chinese Taipei’s Tai Tzu Ying in a straight game win (21-13, 21-15) in a 40-minute pre-quarterfinals match thereby making her way to the quarterfinals.
Sindhu faced Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara in the semi-finals, thus assuring India at least a silver medal. She lost 21-19, 12-21, 15-21 to world No. 1 Carolina Marin in the finals.
The badminton player took the internet by storm as wishes and appreciations poured in from all the corners for the 21-year-old from Hyderabad.
App-based taxi aggregator Uber on Sunday celebrated PV Sindhu’s victory at Rio Olympics 2016 by changing the cab icons on its real-time map to shuttlecocks. The map showed lots of tiny shuttlecocks waiting to pick the people.
Uber took to twitter to congratulate the ace badminton player.
