New Delhi: With the £50 million transfer deal for Valencia's Shkodran Mustafi still suspended mid-air, Arsenal is looking for other potential recruits into the team with the summer transfer window soon closing in on them. According to reports, Arsenal is looking at Democratic Republic of Congo star and AS Monaco defender Marcel Tisserand.
The 23-year-old transfer to La Liga's Espanyol has been put on hold, apparently because the Gunners are serious enough about a good deal for the defender who can play at either right-back or centre-back.
Although Tisserand is a player deserving of Arsenal's interest, his stint with Monaco has not been of much consequence. He was loaned out to Ligue 1 sides Toulouse and Lyon before being transferred to Monaco.
With Per Mertesacker riddled with injuries and Gabriel Paulista also under the same weather, Arsenal is in need of a new centre-back who can expand the defensive outreach formation of the team.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been reluctant about readily signing new players into the team. And albeit his reluctance on the matter is always appreciated, a lackadaisical defence may not set up for a good precedence.
