New Delhi: After admitting under pressure that the gunpoint robbing at Rio de Janeiro was a total hoax, United State swimmer Ryan Lochte has lost all four of his major sponsors, which includes Speedo USA and Ralph Lauren Corp (RL. N).
Lochte being vocal about how he was robbed at gunpoint brought shame to Brazil, and when it was revealed that his story was all made up, the United States Olympic Committee issued an official apology to the host city and promised that action would be taken against the swimmer.
Lochte, who has won 12 gold medals for his country, was first removed as the endorser for US swimwear maker Speedo.
Ralph Lauren, on the other hand, said that it would not be renewing its contract with the Olympian.
Closely following the two were hair removal company Syneron Candela and Japanese mattress company Airweave who declared that contract would not be renewed with Ryan Lochte.
"I was immature and I made a stupid mistake. I'm human. I made a mistake and I definitely learned from this. They (the people of Rio) put on a great Games... And my immature, intoxicated behavior tarnished that a little," Lochte said after the incident.
