OP Jaisha row: SAI asks athlete to submit written statement

We have asked for an official written statement from OP Jaisha: SAI DG

New Delhi: Following the intervention of Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Vijay Goel in OP Jaisha row, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) DG Injeti Srinivas on Tuesday, said that the Ministry has a constituted 2-member committee to look into the matter. We are fully aware of what the athlete has stated to the media. 
Speaking on the controversy, SAI DG further said, "We have asked for an official written statement from OP Jaisha. We will also require a report from the organising committee to ascertain if the organising committee manual was followed during the marathon. As per the committee's manual at interval of every 2.5 km there should be water tables and every 5 kms there should be refreshment tables."
"We will also require the statement of  OP Jaisha's coach to see if there was lapse or was it the result of  a communication gap," Srinivas added.
Earlier in the day, Sports Minister Vijay Goel constituted a 2-member Committee to inquire into the matter. The committe was asked to submit its report in the next 7 days. 
Indian athlete OP Jaisha had earlier blamed the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and Rio organisers for her life-threatening condition during her marathon in the Rio Olympics. 
Jaisha had also said that she would have 101% made it at the marathon, had she had got water and refreshments on time during the run.
