New Delhi: In a faux pas, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Wednesday forgot the name of shuttler PV Sindhu’s full name and also called her from Karnataka.

"It's a proud moment for us that two of our daughters won medals on Raksha Bandhan festival. Sakshi Malik from Haryana and Sindhu (asks others what is her name) ... P V Sindhu from Karnataka (Sindhu is from Hyderabad)," he said.

The CM was addressing a huge gathering during the felicitation ceremony of wrestler Sakshi Malik, who won a bronze medal at Rio Olympics 2016, when he made the blunder.

Incidentally, Manohar Lal Khattar had announced a 50 lakh reward for Hyderabad based badminton player PV Sindhu who won silver at Rio.

Sakshi was handed a cheque of Rs 2.5 crore by the Chief Minister.

The 23-year-old wrestler was also appointed as Haryana's brand ambassador for 'Beti Padhao-Beti Bachao' programme.
