New Delhi: The summer transfer window is finally closing next week, and English club Arsenal have huge deals to sign ahead of them. Arsene Wenger is considering signing three new players into the squad, and one of them is Villarreal's central defender Mateo Musacchio.
Along with Roma's Kostas Manolas, the 25-year-old Villareal defender will probably be approached by Arsenal, who denied to pay Valencia £50 million for Skhodran Mustafi. But curiously, the third player within the target of Arsenal still is Skhodran Mustafi, despite the expensive price tag.
At the start of the summer transfer window, Musacchio was initially offered up for £12 million. But if Arsenal is now closing in for a deal for the player, Musacchio's price will have gone up, especially after the player acquired an EU status.
With Arsenal's defender Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista both suffering injuries, Wenger needs to introduce some immediate changes to the squad. The manager has lately also been criticised by Gunners fans for not spending any money on new players.
Villarreal have already sold one of its central defender Eric Bailly and are not too keen on selling off Musacchio to Arsenal or AC Milan. Same for Kostas Manolas, who has been a point of interest for various Premier League clubs. But the 25-year-old is not going to be sold off easily by Roma.
Arsenal have offered £25 million for Skhodran Mustafi to Valencia, a deal which was flatly refused by Valencia for not reaching the precipice of £50 million mark.
