New Delhi: Chelsea is reportedly bracing itself for another major signing as they reached the final rounds of the £21.3 million transfer deal for Fiorentina defender Marcos Alonso.
Defence was the next objective for Chelsea manager Antonio Conte who hopes to regain tracks lost by Chelsea in the recent Premier League season. With N'Golo Kante and Michy Batshuayi in the squad, Alonso will put a cap on the team's need for solid defence.
Even though Marcos Alonso is central for Fiorentina, the hefty sum for the player is all Fiorentina's advantage as the club acquired the player as a free transfer in 2013.
For experience, the 25-year-old former Bolton player has appeared in 35 Premier League matches in a three-year spell.
He started his career with Real Madrid, going on to represent mainly Bolton Wanderers in England – where he amassed Premier League totals of nine games and one goal over the course of two seasons, spending three in total with the club – and Fiorentina from Italy.
