From Skhodran Mustafi to Paul Pogba, this summer transfer window has been massively appealing to most football fans

New Delhi: Last year on the transfer deadline day, the total expenditure incurred by Premier League clubs in transfers peaked to £870 million, which has now been overpowered by a staggering outlay of record £1.165 billion.

What's more, thirteen top teams broke their own transfer records. The average gross spend for a Premier League club in the 2016 summer window amounted to approximately £60 million.

From Skhodran Mustafi to Paul Pogba, this summer transfer window has been massively appealing to most football fans. Although some managers have been criticised for their apprehensiveness towards new transfers, some have gone totally berserk spending a great deal to rejuvenate the team.

We rank the top players which came with the most expensive price tags this season:

Juventus' Paul Pogba was signed for a world record of £89 million to Manchester United, surpassing the transfer deal of Gareth Bale who cruised from Tottenham to Real Madrid.

Everton midfielder John Stones was signed for £47.5 million to Pep Guardiola's Manchester City. City also has had a tough time trying to see off Captain Joe Hart from the team.

Schalke player Leroy Sane was also signed for Manchester City for £37 million. The attacking midfielder is supposed to sharpen the attacking spell of the City team.

The Swiss national and Borussia Monchen Gladbach player Granit Xhaka was signed into Arsenal for a deal of £35 million. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was criticised for remaining tight with the money.

Another signing for Arsenal came with German international Skhodran Mustafi who was also signed for £35 million by Arsenal from Valencia. Valencia had initially sought for a £50 million deal for Mustafi.

The transfer of David Luiz has been hailed as he has come in at the right time to Chelsea to save his club from the transfer deadline day. The former Chelsea player who was transferred to PSG returned to the club for £34 million.

The Southampton winger Sadio Mane was signed into Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool for £34 million, a deal same as David Luiz.

Marseille's Michy Batshuayi was tabled for signing by Chelsea for £33 million. Antonio Conte has been trying to ameliorate the condition of midfielders to pull back Chelsea back into the game from the swamp.

Moussa Sissoko's dramatic last minute switch to Tottenham came at the expense of Everton who were snubbed due to some disagreements. The Newcastle United is one big signing for manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Leicester City's N'Golo Kante was signed Chelsea without much deliberation as the club paid £30 million for the player.
