New Delhi: After the news of Indian Wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt’s 2012 London Olympics medal to be further upgraded to gold started doing rounds, the wrestler has broken his silence on the same.

Dutt has said that while he is unaware of the rules of United World Wrestling (UWW), the governing body for amateur wrestling, it would be a good news for the country if his 2012 London Olympics medal is upgraded to Gold.

Dutt, whose bronze medal from the 2012 London Olympic Games was first upgraded to Silver after the medal holder of the same, late Besik Kudukhov failed his dope test, now stares at the possibility of becoming only the second individual gold medalist for India in the Olympics after the gold medal winner from that event was also tested positive in the dope test.

However, it is not that easy a decision for UWW to announce the name of the actual medal holder. The other bronze medal winner from the event, USA’s Coleman Scott, also has a strong claim to the medal, since he was the one defeated by Toghrul Asgarov of Azerbaijan, who had originally been awarded the gold.

But even the possibility of Yogeshwar Dutt ‘s medal upgradation would only turn true if he clears the re-tests for banned substances.
