New Delhi: Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal will take on India’s Ramkumar Ramanathan on Friday in the opening World Group play-off match of the Davis Cup.
The second singles tie will be played between Saketh Myneni and world number 13 David Ferrer, as per the draw announced by International Tennis Federation.
“We do have the names, ranking and we are the favourites. We have to play our best,” said Nadal ahead of his match.
Ramkumar is thrilled about playing against one of the best players of all time.
“I’m really excited to play one of the best players of all time. We have to keep the first few games close and play some aggressive tennis,” said an excited Ramkumar.
India had beaten Korea 4-1 in their Asia/Oceania Group I second round tie while Spain defeated Romania with the same margin in their Europe/Africa zonal tie.
