New Delhi: Tamil Nadu seamer Lakshmipathy Balaji announced his retirement from first-class cricket on Saturday.
“I have to move on, have a young family now. I have given it all during my 16 years as a first-class cricketer. I will be playing in the shorter forms of the game in competitions such as the TNPL and IPL,” the 34-year-old told a leading daily.
Balaji had made his debut against New Zealand in 2003 and made a mark during India’s tour of Pakistan the following year. However, his international career was cut short due to many severe injuries.
He has played 106 first class matches picking up 330 wickets.
