New Delhi: Struggling Manchester United faced a daunting hurdle against Northampton on Wednesday during the third round of the EFL Cup at Sixfields.
Manchester United, after suffering three consecutive defeats, was looking to secure a desperate win against Northampton. With the first goal, Mourinho's team looked as if they would comfortably lead the game. But when an unfortunate penalty resulted in an equaliser for the Red Devils, Mourinho was evidently frazzled.
A first class shot from Ander Herrera secured the second goal of the match for Manchester United. Putting in a valiant effort, substitute Marcus Rashford secured the third goal with 15 minutes remaining.
Manchester United will now be facing rivals Manchester City in the fourth round tie which will take place on October 24.
