New Delhi: Barcelona’s Ivan Rakitic drew the first blood against Atletico Madrid at Camp Nou as the two champions clashed with each other in La Liga on Wednesday.
It looked as if Barcelona would be dominating the pitch the entirety of the match, until Angel Correa sent off a smashing equaliser to bring competition back into the game.
After the match, Atletico coach Diego Simeone looked indifferent towards the outcome of the match but said that he was very pleased with how his team performed after the half-time.
“For us, it is always difficult to draw anything positive from Camp Nou. In the first half, we defended well, but we could not counter-attack. The goal in the second half made us react. In the second half we are much more dangerous. After the draw, we waited for our opportunity with the players that we had to play the spaces,” said Simeone in the press conference.
With this draw, Atletico stands fourth on the table, four points behind their rival Real Madrid.
