New Delhi: Manchester United Captain Wayne Rooney has been suffering from lack of form in the last few games where United suffered debilitating losses. If the lackadaisical performance continues, Rooney could soon be spending his time on the bench.

Jose Mourinho has made it abundantly clear that Rooney's status as captain of the team will not save him from facing the hammer. In repeated defeats against Premier League clubs, Rooney has shown a sluggish progress which might question his performance in the long run.

Manchester United will be playing against Leicester City today, and if Rooney slackens the attack set by Mourinho, the coach will be not shy away from sending off the player to the bench.

However, Mourinho’s utilisation of Rooney deep in the midfield last time against Watford assured them the win. The Red Devils' fans are expecting to see the same performance again.
