Dhaka: The India U- 18 men’s hockey team on Friday defeated Bangladesh 5-4 to win Under-18 Asia Cup Hockey Tournament at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium in Dhaka.
The first goal was struck by the hosts and to its immediate reaction, a goal was fired from India which equalised the score to 1-1 as the teams went for half time.
The second half of the match was quite intriguing as India scored 2 goals back to back which made the score line 3-2. Soon after, a goal came from the hosts which again equalised the score to 3-3.
Towards the end of the match when the scoreline was 4-4, BJ Kariappa provided the magic goal which lead India win the Asia Cup with the scoreline 5-4.
The Man of the Match was awarded to the Indian vice-captain Hardik Singh.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated the Indian team for their victory.
