New Delhi: Aston Villa on Monday sacked manager Roberto di Matteo after team’s bad performance in the Football League Championship.
“The club decided to act following a run of disappointing results which has the left the team occupying 19th position,” said a club statement.
“The club would like to place on record its appreciation to Roberto for all his efforts in helping rebuild the squad,” the club added.
Di Matteo, 46 had been appointed last year as manager and has been axed only after 12 games in charge.
