New Delhi: Indian gymnast Dipa Karmakar on Thursday cleared the air on rumors alleging that she plans to return her BMW car due to poor road conditions in Tripura.
“I cannot even think of refusing or returning a gift given to me by Sachin Sir himself. It is a big thing for me that I got the keys from him,” she said.
Dipa also rubbished the media reports alleging that she was returning the car due to poor road conditions in Agartala.
“See here in Agartala, we don’t have showroom or service centre of BMW and, therefore, I asked them (members of Badminton Association of Hyderabad) for any other vehicle which is locally available and they also gave their consent for that. Other than this there is no other issue,” Dipa said.
Dipa Karmakar’s father Dulal Karmakar also said that they had asked Hyderabad Badminton Association president if it was possible to give her the price of the BMW as cash so that could buy a locally available car with the money.
Dipa had received the BMW in August along with Rio Olympic medalists Sakshi Malik, PV Sindhu and her coach Pullela Gopichand for splendid performance in the games.
