New Delhi: Manchester United’s mojo which seems to have escaped the team lately continued to poke its absence as they pulled a draw against Burnley at Old Trafford.
Manchester United began optimistically with Zlatan Ibrahimovic missing a clean chance at the post. However, a slew of twisted shots and good saves increased the frustration among the Red Devils’ players, and ultimately, unsuccessful shots followed one after another.
Jose Mourinho, as Burnley fans might have it, could not contain his anger when Jon Flanagan went unpunished for a challenge on Matteo Darmian. The incensed coach went behind at the main stand and then further behind as he was quickly moved to the directors’ box where he sat beamused the entire game.
Tom Heaton, former Manchester United goalkeeper, performed superbly to ward off lethal attacks from Man U’s side, especially Juan Mata’s cross which Zlatan Ibrahimovic scissored directly towards the post. The Swedish striker could not register a single goal despite having 12 attempts at it.
In short, Manchester United was the favourites against Burnley and there was little to doubt that they would draw against the men clad in blue. However, the same thorn prickled the same spots; Manchester United players played another game under intense duress.
