Madrid: Gareth Bale scored a brace as Real Madrid maintained the top spot in the La Liga after winning 3-0 against Leganes at the Santiago Bernabeu here on Sunday.
Thus, Real remained the only team without a single defeat so far in the domestic league competition, ahead of the capital derby against Atletico Madrid on November 19, reports Efe.
Currently, Real Madrid are leading the standings with 27 points, and five points ahead of defending champions Barcelona, who will clash against Sevilla later on Sunday.
Wales star Bale scored in the 38th minutes and 45th minutes for Real Madrid as well as Alvaro Morata in 76 minutes to frustrate Leganes, who have 10 points and are in the 17th position.
Real head coach Zinedine Zidane started the game with Morata, and bet of resting Colombian winger James Rodriguez at the bench and including Isco Alarcón and Mateu Kovacic.
Real Madrid kicked of the game with a defensive organisation to keep a clean sheet after conceding goals in recent games. The first real attack took place in the 20th minute with a cross from Bale to Morata, who tried to turn it into the goal, but went up high.
Cristiano Ronaldo missed a chance on 21 minute after finding himself alone with the goalkeeper, before the referee signalled an offside.
In the 37th minute, Ronaldo wasted another chance made available by Leganes’ defenders, but the shot went wide.
Finally Bale managed to benefit from a defensive gap in 38 minutes and scored his first goal from an assist by Isco.
Bale went back to score his second goal in the last minute of the first half from a free kick executed by the German Toni Kroos, and eventually reached Bale who did not hesitate to score.
Real Madrid started the second half with and an intensive attack to score the third goal, which translated in the 76 minute when Morata scored from an impressive assist from Toni Kroos, before being replaced by Lucas Vazquez four minutes later.
